Addressing mental health and drug and alcohol issues can be
complex. MDECC operates on the belief that all people have the
right to access accurate information, education, and treatment for
mental health and drug and alcohol related issues.
Our prime concern is to promote mental health, and reduce or
eliminate the harms associated with drug and alcohol use.
The harmful use of drugs and alcohol is both a health and social
problem. Therefore, MDECC encourages members of the community to
contribute their ideas, and participate in the development and
implementation of health promotion projects, education, early
intervention and treatment programs.
MDECC's organisational values are:
To foster individual, family, and community involvement in
promoting mental health and reducing the harms associated with the
use of drugs and alcohol.
MDECC achieves this through:
- Community consultation and participation
- Respect for the diversity of community attitudes, and
individual needs
- The development and implementation of programs based on
evidence-based best practice
MDECC is overseen by a Board of Directors. The Board of
Directors is made up of individuals from diverse backgrounds
including health, education, welfare, psychology, mental health,
and community representation.
The MDECC Board provides governance and a clear vision for the
organisation.
