CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST (MENTAL HEALTH/DRUG & ALCOHOL)

ROLE OF THE POSITION:
To provide onsite mental health drug and
alcohol assessments and interventions to young people experiencing
problematic drug and alcohol use and mental health problems, and
their parents/families.
To provide consultancy and support to clinical
staff at MDECC.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:
1.
Client Management
- Provide onsite mental health drug and alcohol
assessment of clients at the Manly Drug Education and Counselling
Centre (MDECC)
- Provide ongoing clinical management of
clients as required and ensure that a management plan is documented
in their client file
- Provide clinical services in a youth-friendly
manner to ensure engagement and retention of young people in
treatment
- Promote active liaison through MDECC with
other service providers, mental health and drug and alcohol
services, and relevant organisations
- Conduct and provide clinical supervision to
MDECC Drug and Alcohol Counsellors and the Intervention Program
Team
- Maintain
confidential client treatment files.
- Actively
participate in the development and collection of outcome evaluation
measures within the Counselling/Treatment Program.
2.
Program/Project Participation
- Participate in, and provide input into
activities undertaken within MDECC's Programs ie: Community
Education Program, Intervention Program, and Counselling/Treatment
Program as required.
- Involvement in specific project work, as
negotiated with the Manager.
3.
Education and Research
- Participate in MDECC staff training and
supervision in response to identified training and support needs
and in consultation with the MDECC Manager
- Have a commitment to and active involvement
in peer clinical review and quality improvement activities
- Participate in relevant clinical research
activities as required
4.
Statistical Information
- Client data entry, and maintenance of
computerised database.
- Collection of statistical information for
reports, as required.
- Reporting on the NSW Minimum Data Set.
5.
Agency Networking
- Develop and maintain links with other service
providers, such as General Practitioners and School Counsellors in
the Manly/Warringah/Pittwater area, as well as agencies in the drug
and alcohol and mental health field.
- Use liaisons with other agencies as an
opportunity to market/raise the profile of MDECC as a treatment
service provider.
6. Organisational Participation and Leadership
- Provide clinical leadership in
regards to mental health and drug and alcohol issues at
MDECC
- Stimulate and encourage a clinical
environment that is dynamic and continues to strive for evidence
based practice and innovation in the mental health and drug and
alcohol field
- Collaborate with MDECC team and
Management to achieve the most effective and efficient levels of
client assessment and care
- Maintain a standard of personal and
professional conduct to ensure the confidence and co-operation of
colleagues and clients alike
- Become familiar with, and adhere to
MDECC's Policy and Procedure Manual.
Responsible for active involvement in the general
upkeep and maintenance of the centre, and reporting occupational,
health, and safety hazards to the Manager.
