Djabaan Marrung - In 2005, MDECC developed a
peer education project that specifically targeted Indigenous young
people in Taree. This project was conducted in partnership with the
Ghinni Ghinni Youth and Culture Aboriginal Corporation. Djabaan
Marrung peers came together not only to learn drug and alcohol
information, but also to reconnect with their Aboriginal culture
through creative art, music, and visiting sacred sites. If you are

MISS Manly - M.I.S.S. Manly, Making It Safe
Strategy, was a community initiative involving partnerships between
local government, NSW Health, non-government agencies and licensed
premises in Manly to increase awareness of women's public safety
issues in the area. The M.I.S.S. Manly, Making It Safe Strategy was
initiated in response to calls from women to help make the Manly
area feel safer at night. The initiative involved a
'stiletto' rating audit of venues to determine how safe and
enjoyable their premises are. A short survey was developed for
female patrons, asking what makes them feel safe within venues and
outside the venues in the Manly CBD.
